Terms of service

The service

Doc Room lets tax preparers collect documents from their clients through private upload links and download them as a labeled packet. By using it you agree to these terms.

Not a tax preparer, not tax advice

We are not a tax preparer, accountant, or law firm. We do not prepare, review, sign, or file tax returns, and nothing in the service is tax, legal, or financial advice. Labels and checklists only help organize documents. The preparer is responsible for the return and for any advice they give.

For clients

  • Only upload through a link sent to you by your own preparer.
  • Upload documents you have the right to share. Don't upload anything unlawful or harmful.
  • Keep your link private. Anyone with the link can upload to your checklist.
  • Questions about your taxes go to your preparer, not to us.

For preparers

  • You are responsible for your account, for whom you send links to, and for using client data lawfully.
  • You must have your clients' permission to collect their documents and to email or text them reminders.
  • Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you suspect misuse.
  • Paid plans are billed as shown at checkout.

Data

Preparers own the data they and their clients put into the service. We handle it as described in the privacy policy, including keeping it for the current season plus one year or until the firm is deleted.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the service available and your files safe, but it is provided "as is" without warranties. Keep your own copies of anything you need. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for tax outcomes.

Ending use

Preparers can export their packets and delete their firm at any time. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service. We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do.
